Different people join AFROTC for different reasons. However, those individuals no
matter how different or for whatever reasons they join, learn a great deal about their
potential to do something more for the greater good of our Nation. AFROTC is a commissioning
program and more-- it builds confidence, inspires selflessness, and instills integrity
and self-respect within the individual. Being part of Det 850 encompasses more than
just training and learning leadership skills but learning how to embrace the Air Force
Core Values and a culture of honor, commitment, and dedication. Our mission is to
“Develop Quality Leaders for the Air Force.” Detachment 850 will give you the tools
and equipment to excel in becoming a quality Air Force leader, but it is ultimately
up to you to meet and conquer the challenge, which I know you can. We are a proud
Service who serves to protect and defend our Nation with honor and dignity and will
continue to uphold the freedom that has been fought by our past and present Airmen.
If you think you have what it takes to be the future Airman, stand proud, and are
motivated knowing that you will develop a desire to embody excellence, give us a call.
Andrew J. Benson, Lt Col, USAF
